The CAD-Scan Connection
has a close relationship with engineers in all ranges of disciplines. The most common issues we
address are archiving/preservation of original drawings and converting projects into CAD format.
Our focus stems from our broad bank of experience and know-how thus providing unique options which can meet your special needs.
-
ARCHIVING / PRESERVATION
-- we recognize how precious paper drawings can be, particularly the older ones. For this reason,
scanning and preserving them on to CDs become important. And, we meet this task by assuring our clients that
the integrity of the drawings will be kept. Our preferred file format for data storage is
TIFF uncompressed (it has a long shelf life, with no data compression); however, other
formats are available. Also, we store data on "write-once" CDs thereby creating a "master file." Note:
1 CD can hold over 1,000 drawings. All your paper drawings
now can be safely stored (protected from fire or flood hazards) in a secure place, while a second set of CDs can be
easily available as a working copy at your desk--even in your brief case. It should be emphasized that any file
on the CD can be brought up in most viewing programs that come with the computer ("Photo Editor," "Adobe PhotoShop,"
"Imaging," etc.). For more information, click on "Archiving" in the left margin.

CAD CONVERSION
(raster-to-vector)-- our company's strength lies in its CAD background. Our experience and
know-how, along with sophisticated software, allow us to provide you with unique solutions and lots
of options regarding "paper-to-CAD" conversion. Our range runs from
autovectorization
, where scanned drawings become fully CAD oriented (editing not included) to
CAD-perfect drawings
(layered, scaled and quality controlled). However, It's the "in between" that may be of particular
interest to your needs; we create hybrid solutions (raster and vector files layered together in a CAD format) that, not only can
save in time
, but
save in cost
. Also, our company does GIS work (i.e., 3-D contour maps with true elevations, scale and coordinates).
Our "paper-to-CAD" conversion can meet whatever CAD format you require--whether
it be PC or MAC (.dgn, .dwg, .dxf, etc.). Plus, our company can convert from one CAD program to another CAD program
(i.e. from AutoCAD's ".dwg" to MicroStation's .dgn"). For more information, click on "Conversion to CAD" in the left margin.
